Security Systems in Andrews, NC

Andrews is one of the quieter mountain towns in Western North Carolina, tucked into Cherokee County along the Hiwassee River. Properties here are spread far apart, roads get remote fast, and sheriff response in the mountains takes time. That distance is part of the appeal of living here. It also means a professionally monitored security system matters more, not less. Lint Security has been serving mountain communities across North Georgia and Western NC since 1985. Request a free site survey and a technician will come to your Andrews property first, before any quote is given, to assess exactly what it needs.

Why Lint Security

We're Not Here to Make a Sale. We're Here to Earn Your Trust.

Anyone can sell you a security system. Not everyone will still be there when something goes wrong ten years later. We will be.

  • Family Owned and Operated

National companies sell accounts, close branches, and route you to out-of-state call centers. Lint Security has been here since 1985 and grew entirely on word of mouth.

  • Our People. Start to Finish.

From the first call to the final installation, every person you interact with is a Lint employee. Not a contractor. Not a call center. Someone who works here every day.

  • A real person calls and text

When your alarm goes off, our monitoring partner Criticom calls you right away. If you do not answer, they send police or fire. No app alert. A real person.

  • We visit before we quote

ADT and Vivint sell you a package over the phone. We come to your property first and build a system around what you actually need.

  • Licensed and Certified

We hold a GA LVA license plus Access Control, and CCTV certifications. Every job is done by our own technicians.

Security in Cherokee County Comes Down to Who Is Watching When You Are Not

Andrews sits along the Hiwassee River in a part of Western NC where properties are spread far apart. Some are close to town. A lot more are down dirt roads, up hollow roads, or backing right up against national forest land. That kind of distance from neighbors is one of the things people love about this area. It is also what makes security planning different here than it is in a suburb. When something goes wrong at a remote property, nobody is nearby to notice. Professional monitoring changes that. If an alarm triggers, Lint Security’s monitoring partner Criticom calls you within 10 seconds and dispatches police or fire if you do not answer, no matter how far back your property sits.

Cherokee County was hit hard by severe weather in 2024, and some properties in the area are still working through repairs or sitting vacant during rebuilding. Partially occupied and vacant properties are more vulnerable, and construction equipment and materials left on site draw theft. Whether your property is in that situation or fully settled, the starting point is the same: a free site survey where a Lint Security technician walks your property, looks at what is exposed, and puts together a quote based on what your specific place actually needs. No packages. No guessing.

Have Questions? We Have Answers.

Security is a significant decision. Most people have questions before they're ready to call. Here are the ones we hear most.

See all FAQs
  • What happens when my alarm goes off?

When your alarm triggers, a signal is sent immediately to Criticom, our UL-listed central monitoring station. A trained operator contacts you within seconds to verify the alert. If they cannot reach you, or if there is a confirmed emergency, they dispatch police, fire, or EMS to your property right away. No action needed on your end. Criticom monitors your system 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, so you are covered whether you are home, at work, or out of town.

  • How does monitoring work when my property is this far from Gainesville?

Distance from Lint Security’s base does not affect how monitoring works. The alarm system communicates directly with the Criticom monitoring center through a cellular connection, not through Lint’s office. When an alarm triggers, Criticom handles the call and dispatch automatically, anywhere in the country. Lint Security’s role is the installation and equipment. Once the system is live, your professional monitoring runs 24 hours a day regardless of where you or Lint are located.

  • My property backs up to national forest land. Does that create any special security concerns?

It can. Properties that border forest land often have longer and less visible perimeters, and the tree line can provide cover for someone approaching the back of a house or outbuilding. Motion-activated exterior cameras covering those blind spots, combined with door and window sensors on all entry points, are the typical starting point. The site survey is where this gets figured out. A technician walks the full property, including the back and sides, not just the front door, and identifies the specific exposure points before anything is recommended or quoted.

  • What if the power goes out? Western NC storms can knock it out for days.

All Lint Security alarm systems include a battery backup that keeps the system running through power outages. Monitoring stays active, and the cellular communicator continues working independently of your home power. For extended outages common in mountain areas after ice storms or downed trees, the backup battery typically provides several hours of continued operation. If you want longer backup coverage, that is something to discuss during the site survey so the right equipment is specified from the start.

  • We are thinking of buying a property in Andrews. When should we get a security system installed?

Right after closing, before you move in or start using the property regularly, is the best time. It is easier to run wiring, place sensors, and position cameras when the space is empty. It also means the property is protected from day one, which matters especially for vacation properties or homes in remote locations that may sit unoccupied for stretches early on. Reach out to schedule a site survey. Lint Security will come out, walk the property with you, and have a quote ready before you need to make any decisions.
